AMSTI Science emphasizes mastery of all standards addressed in the Alabama Course of Study: Science by deepening teacher content knowledge and improving pedagogical techniques. The vision for K-12 includes student participation in hands-on, activity-based lessons that guide them toward making sense of scientific phenomena. Through concrete, research-based methods of instruction and inquiry, teachers will facilitate student thinking by asking purposeful questions and providing formative feedback. Teachers will establish evidence-based targets for learning and success criteria. To support this vision, curricular resources have been selected and modified providing units of study to build the knowledge and skills needed for students to meet the performance expectations in the Alabama Course of Study: Science.
